From the time we were greeted in the afternoon up until we said our goodbyes when we checked the next morning my wife and I had the time of our lives. Our room was spacious and set in the style of a traditional Ryokan. We were encouraged by …
Staying here felt like visiting an old friend that you haven’t seen in years ☺️
This was the perfect example of Japanese hospitality. The rooms were spacious, and not only were they aesthetically pleasing, but they were luxuriously comfortable as well. We slept on futons on the ground, and it felt just as good as a western bed, if not better.
Although our bathroom came with a private tub for bathing, the communal bathing areas were great as well, with a few jets in the tubs and the option to open the window to let cool air in.
The meals (breakfast and dinner) were both delicious and creative, and the room attendants are there for you whenever you need anything.
The next time I visit Kyoto, there’s truly nowhere else that I can imagine staying. Thank you Mui, our room attendant, for your kindness, care, and generosity!
this place deserves more than five stars. the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly.
our room host, Moe was so lovely and accommodating. she even made us personalised origami!
it was such a pleasant and special experience; one that i will never forget! we stayed in a luxury traditional room which had our own access to a very beautiful garden, private bathroom as well as a public onsen, a study/office area and a little lounge area.
cannot stress enough how lovely the staff are, a very special thank you to all the staff, and especially to Moe!
5 Star Service is a criminal offense for a place that easily deserves ten, fifty, one-hundred stars. This brilliant and charming hotel takes service SERIOUSLY. The rooms are comfortable and the showers are AMAZING. Highly, highly, highly recommend for anyone looking to stay at a Ryokan while in Kyoto.
Our stay at Seikoro was amazing. The place is very traditional and beautiful. The people are amazing and they offer a very high level of service. The people greet you from the moment you enter and you feel like you’ve arrived in a very safe and pleasant place. The bath was also great. The kaiseki dinner was beautiful - tastes were unique and often things we hadn’t tasted before - some not to our regular taste but it was still a really good experience.
We had a great stay at Seikoro! The staff was amazing - all very welcoming and kind with attentive service. We enjoyed the small things too like welcoming tea and handwritten notes and origami. We did not have a chance to enjoy the onsen …
One of the best experiences we’ve had in Japan so far. Our inn attendant was so attentive and kind. All the people on site were so kind and attentive. And they made us feel very special. The food experience was unique. We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast, which we enjoyed from our room. If you enjoy fish I recommend the Japanese style breakfast. Unfortunately, we did not get to try the public bath on site. If you want a unique experience in a traditional Japanese inn, I highly recommend Seikoro. If I could give it more than five stars I would.
A unique experience to get a feel of authentic Japanese living.
Whilst staying in Kyoto, we chose 1 night ryokan stay here. Our room was spacious and the futons were actually really comfortable to sleep on. It was great to have access to a communal bath, bonus no one was there when I used it.
A great spread for breakfast and location is about 20 min walking distance to Gion and other sightseeing spots. We loved our stay here!
